The explosion took place at a home off Trenton Lane, near the intersection of Georgia Highway 20 and Hightower Road, shortly before 1 p.m.

A neighbor told FOX 5’s Patty Pan he was several hundred feet from the home when he heard and felt the explosion.

When he went outside, he saw one side of the home had been blown off.

The man said he heard a woman screaming inside the home, so he and another neighbor ran to the home to pull the older woman outside.

The two men ended up dragging her across the yard to get her away from the site.

Nearly 90 minutes after the explosion, firefighters remained on the scene as smoke continued to pour out of the home.

Cherokee County Fire Chief Tim Prather said the cause was under investigation.
