This particular Chick-fil-A location was the original free-standing location for the Atlanta-based chain. It was built in 1986 and since then the originators of the chicken sandwich have burst into more than 2,100 locations in 46 states inside airports, shopping malls, college campus, and neighborhood streets, like the DeKalb County location.

About 31 years ago, no one could guess the type of volume this particular store would receive on a daily basis. Anyone who has driven through the location knows it can get extremely busy, especially during lunch and dinner. This was location managers decided to tear the old one down and replace it with a more efficient design.
The Druid Hills Chick-fil-A closed in early August and is just now getting ready for its grand reopening. Tents have been set up since Tuesday as die-hard Chick-fil-A fans get ready for the big day Thursday at 6 a.m.
The biggest change that frequent customers will notice is the drive-thru has been flip-flopped to the other side of the store in order to give a better flow. The window will be headed up by new duel covered ordering lanes.
Also, the playground will be indoors, so the weather won’t stop the young fans from enjoying themselves.
It’s the things guests won’t notice which may make the biggest difference. The kitchen underwent a major redesign to help handle the capacity and allow for future menu changes.
Campers in front of the Chick-fil-A are ready. The restaurant chain has been known for its pre-grand opening parties which include games, dancing, music, and more. There is also a chance to win free food for a year among the first 100 people.
The Druid Hills Chick-fil-A store hours are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and as always, they are closed on Sunday.
