Perdue Foods announces chicken nugget recall
(WTXF) - Perdue Foods has announced a recall of approximately 4,530 pounds of chicken nuggets products that may have been contaminated with extraneous plastic materials, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The nugget products were produced for Applegate Farms on September 28, 2015.
The following products were recalled:
- 8-oz. boxed packages containing approximately 18 pieces of “Applegate Naturals Chicken Nuggets” with Best Before Date 09/27/2016.
The products recalled also have the number P-2617 inside the USDA mark of inspection. They were shipped to retail distribution centers in Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Massachusettes, Pennsylvania, New York, and Texas.
According to a press release from the USDA, the problem was discovered when consumers complained of small, solid, clear plastic inside the Applegate Naturals Chicken Nuggets.
So far, there haven’t been any confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of the products.
Consumers should not consume the products and should either be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
