Atlanta police respond to two shootings miles apart

Police say one victim went to Grady Memorial Hospital. Atlanta police and city leaders are working to make nightlife safer.

Police investigated a shooting outside a nightclub on Atlanta's west side on Sunday. 

Police said a person was shot outside Vivide on Marietta Boulevard. Police said the victim wasn't at the scene when they arrived and bystanders were uncooperative. 

Roads were blocked off at around 2:30 a.m. while police surveyed the area. officers found shell casings hit by bullets. 

A man was treated for injuries after being dropped off at Grady Memorial Hospital, police said. Investigators were unable to speak with him at the time due to his injuries.

Atlanta City Council addresses nightclub shootings

City of Atlanta leaders are considering a proposal requiring businesses to provide a detailed security plan when they apply for liquor licenses. 

Atlanta City Council also intends to implement policies to address the staffing shortage at the Atlanta Police Department and the issues of repeat offenders.
