Philadelphia fire: Massive building fire in Frankford placed under control, dozens displaced
PHILADELPHIA - Firefighters battled a massive fire that torched two buildings in Philadelphia's Frankford neighborhood on Friday morning.
Firefighters were called to a property on the 1200 block of Adams Avenue around 5:30 a.m. for reports of a fire.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Derrick Bomer told reporters the fire quickly went to 4-alarms due to the size of the fire and how big the building was.
No injuries have been reported at this point, Bomer said, but several homes along Adams Avenue and Wingohocking Street were evacuated.

Thick plumes of black smoke billowed into the sky and moved across the city, covering part of the Philadelphia skyline on an otherwise mostly clear morning.
Firefighters say the fire engulfed a commercial building that housed an auto shop, then spread to another commercial building directly behind it.
Bomer said the Frankford Creek, located directly behind the building, made it challenging for firefighters to attack the blaze.
No homes were directly impacted by the fire, but Chief Andrew Hudgins told reporters at the scene that 30-40 residents were temporarily displaced.
Investigators have not speculated about what sparked the fire.
