PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Airport officials have reopened terminal 4 of Phoenix Sky Harbor after it was shut down due to an unattended vehicle.

Deputy Aviation Director Julie Rodriguez says a rental vehicle was left near terminal 4 and the east side of the terminal was evacuated pre-security.

There was a heavy police and airport security presence as a bomb squad worked to clear the vehicle.

Officials say it is not clear at this time why the renters left the car behind or if they will face any charges.

Travelers should check with their airlines for the status of flights.

Airlines that were affected include: Air Canada, American, British Airways, Southwest Airlines, Volaris, WestJet, and Condor.

Southwest Airlines says 34 total flights in and out were canceled and more could be expected.
