Photos of a RaceTrac gas station's $9.99 per gallon sign in Woodstock, Georgia were sent to FOX 5 Atlanta and posted Sunday morning on the FOX 5 Atlanta Facebook page.

Shortly after the photo was posted Sunday morning, the Woodstock Police Department notified FOX 5 that "the gas station's sign was not functioning properly and the price for regular gas was not $9.99 per gallon." The post was updated to reflect the change.

In a statement to FOX 5 Sunday afternoon, RaceTrac said:

"The RaceTrac location pictured here in Woodstock, GA has a depleted fuel supply due to recent pipeline issues. The fuel sign at this location is properly functioning; however, it is an industry standard to post a $9.99 price point to indicate a depleted fuel supply. To address any confusion, this store and all RaceTrac stores in GA, will update price signs to reflect current fuel pricing, but pumps at impacted stores will remain bagged until fuel is available.

Like many retailers in the area, RaceTrac is working day and night to supply fuel to our loyal guests despite current supply issues. An Atlanta-based business since 1976, RaceTrac values our hometown guests and is known for offering our fuel and products at a value. We adhere to this standard despite varying market conditions. As always, our Atlanta area guests can rest assured that our teams are dedicated to sourcing and supplying fuel and providing a fair market price for that fuel. If you have questions about RaceTrac's fuel supply or prices, please contact our Guest Engagement hotline Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. by calling 1-888-636-5589."
