COVINGTON, Ga. - A stretch of road in Covington is closed after a plane was forced to make an emergency landing.
According to the Newton County Sheriff's Office, the plane suffered engine failure and landed on Highway 36 at McCart Circle. Everyone onboard. All on board were safe. No injuries were reported.
Further details about the incident were not immediately made available.
According to flightaware.com, the plane is a 1990 single engine Beech A36 Bonanza registered to Bonanza Five Inc. out of Lilburn. The plane took off shortly before 6 p.m. from the Griffin-Spalding County Airport and was forced to land within the first 15 minutes.
Authorities managed to clear the road just before 9:30 p.m.
