CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. - The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is investigating a deadly two-car crash that happened on Wednesday morning along the interstate just before rush hour.
According to investigators, deputies responded to the scene of the car accident on Interstate 575 near Riverstone Parkway in Canton around 7 a.m.
Kierra Holder, 24, of Forest Park, who was driving a Kia Sportage, struck a Toyota Tacoma from behind, investigators said. Both vehicles then lost control, struck the guard rail, and flipped on their side, investigators said.
Robert Schroeder, 61, of Jasper, who was driving the Tacoma, was ejected from his vehicle.
Both drivers and a passenger were rushed to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, where investigators said Schroeder later died. The conditions of Holder and passenger Samira Bryant, 23, of Riverdale, were not immediately known late Wednesday evening.
Deputies said they will be investigating reports by witnesses who state the Kia was driving erratically prior to the crash.
No charges were filed Wednesday, but the investigation remains on-going.
