A $10,000 reward has been issued for information leading to the arrest of a man accused of shooting a DeKalb County police officer multiple times and wounding him early Thursday morning.

UPDATED: DeKalb County police officer shot multiple times, continues to recover

The focus on the manhunt changed around 7 a.m. centering on the area around Martin Luther King High School. Officers armed with rifles could be seen patrolling the area searching for 27-year-old Otis Walker.

The DeKalb County Police Department said Walker ambushed three officers around 12:30 a.m. as they responded to a home on Hodgdon Corners Cove in the Stonecrest area for a domestic dispute call. Officer Derek Nunn and two other officers came under fire from Walker, who police said was hiding between two houses. Almost immediately, Officer Nunn was injured. The officers did return fire, police said.

Officer Nunn was hit multiple times and was rushed to a hospital. Doctors said he will recover from those injuries.

As more officers responded to secure the scene, they found Walker's girlfriend shot and killed outside the home. Her name was not released Thursday as officers work to notify next of kin.

Police said Walker was able to slip away from the scene and has been on the run since. Law enforcement sources said he has an extensive criminal history, but wouldn't elaborate.

Thursday afternoon, FOX 5 News saw family members arrive at the home remove items from inside. No one offered any comment regarding the violent which unfolded that very morning.

Neighbor Tammy Gresham, who said she knows Walker, recounted how his mother ran to her home in a panic after the deadly shooting.

"She just said, ‘I need you, I need you,'" Gresham said.

Gresham commented this type of violence seems out of character for Walker.

"He is like a nephew to me. It really kind of bothered me because like I said he was a hardworking man. He will go to work. He cared about his baby girl and it never struck me that he would do anything like this," Gresham said.

"I am sure it has shocked the whole neighborhood because it is usually quiet over here," said Crystal Fielder, whose house damaged in the exchange of gunfire.

Fielder said she woke up to the rapid gunfire and then realized the bullets had pierced her master bedroom window where she and her husband were sleeping.

"I was knocked out sleep and I heard this, ‘pop, pop, pop, pop, pop' and I went ‘Oh, my god.' I rolled out the bed and hit the floor for safety," Fielder said.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called to the scene to investigate the police shooting and DeKalb County police homicide detectives are working the woman's death case.

Crime Stoppers Atlanta is offering a $10,000 reward for any information leading to the suspect's arrest. Anyone who sees Walker should call 911 immediately. Anyone with information on his whereabouts should call 404-577-8477.
