Body found at abandoned home
A real estate agent who went to check on an abandoned South Fulton property made a gruesome discovery. Police are now investigating after a body was found inside the attic of the home.
SOUTH FULTON, Ga. - A metro Atlanta realtor made a gruesome discovery when he went to inspect an abandoned house he was thinking about buying.
South Fulton Police said the realtor discovered a body hanging from the attic of a home on Stonewall Tell Road at North Wexford Road Wednesday.
"When he entered into the property he saw some feet hanging from the ceiling. It appears that the deceased may have fallen through the ceiling and his feet were hanging where they were visible inside of the house," Police Lt. Jubal Rogers told Fox5's Aungelique Proctor.
The realtor also noticed part of a huge tree had fallen on the roof of the dilapidated home. Police are now trying to determine if the tree had any connection to the death.
Police say neighbors near the South Fulton home complained that squatters have been living on the property.
Police identified the deceased as 30-year-old Preston Grissom. They do not suspect foul play.
A neighbor who did not want to be identified described the discovery as disturbing.
"It is spooky and sad," the woman remarked.
Police say Grissom's family reported him missing with two different departments back in February.
