According to investigators, maintenance workers discovered the body around 7:30 a.m. The body was found next to a dumpster in the parking lot of the Southeast Athletic Complex along Hillvale Road.

Park-goers who visit the complex regularly were stunned by the troubling discovery.

"When we pulled up I was kind of wondering what was going on, but from what I understand a body was found by the dumpster, a burned body and I think it is terrible, " park guest Kenny Thompson said.

"That kind of stuff don't normally happen. We come to this park a lot. We never heard of something like that happening here," Mr. Thompson's female companion remarked.

Authorities haven't said if the victim was a man or a woman.

The park was closed Thursday because of the discovery.

Anyone with information is asked to call the DeKalb County Police Department.
