After dropping the children off, the father, 48-year-old Kalvin Wright of Albany, Georgia, returned to the apartment, Gwinnett County police say.
Police called a SWAT team in the case of a barricaded gunman, but when they entered the apartment they found both the suspect and the woman, 33-year-old Gentorica Wright, dead with "apparent gunshot wounds," police say.
The children, who are all under the age of 10, are being cared for by family members.
Officials believe that the incident, which is still under investigation, was domestic.
A GoFundMe for Gentorica Wright's funeral expenses as well as her children's expenses has been started by the family. You can donate here.
