Police: Gun discharges in mall food court, injuring 2

Police in Morrow said two people were injured after a gun discharged in the middle of a busy mall food court.

It happened at the Southlake Mall food court around 9 p.m. The Morrow Police Chief said a man was carrying a gun in his pants when it dropped. Police said the man squeezed the trigger as he was picking it up, firing the weapon.

A bullet hit the floor, shattering a tile. Police said fragments hit two women who were nearby, injuring them. One woman was transported to an area hospital in good condition. The other woman was treated and released at the scene.

The name of the two women have not yet been released.

Police said the man grabbed his gun and ran from the scene. Officers are combing over security footage to try to get a good description of the man. Police were not able to immediately identify the man.
