Police identify shooting victim dumped along busy Tara Boulevard
CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. - Authorities have identified a man found dead on the side of Tara Boulevard in Clayton County early Monday.
An officer discovered Jermaine Blassengale, 39, of Philadelphia, lying face down during routine patrol near Mundy's Mill Road around 1:49 a.m. Police said he'd been shot at least once. Blassengale was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators shut down a portion of the roadway as they collected clues. They believe Blassengale was shot at a different location, then left in the grass near Tara Boulevard.
The roadway reopened to traffic at 4: 30 a.m.
Police say there are no known suspects at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
