Police investigate double shooting at DeKalb County apartments

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - Police are investigating a shooting that left two men injured Sunday at a DeKalb County apartment complex.

The shooting happened shortly before noon at the Highlands of East Atlanta apartments on Flat Shoals Road.

Officers told FOX 5 News at least 10 shell casings were discovered at the scene. And at this time, they are not releasing suspect information.

Both victims were taken to a local hospital. Their conditions are unknown.

Some people living in the community told FOX 5 they're fed up with the violence. A 4-year-old boy was wounded by a stray bullet in December. Police found a 17-year-old girl was shot to death at a bus stop just outside the complex the following month.

Resident Shernika Curtis said children are afraid to play outside because of the string of shootings.

"I just want change. I want security to be on their job more...we need more protection out here," Curtis said. "I am ready to go. I am very scared."
