2 dead in apparent murder-suicide in southwest Atlanta, police say

Two people were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide at a home on Head Road SW, according to Atlanta police. 

What we know:

Officers responded to the 2700 block of Head Road SW around 8:14 p.m. following a report of a shooting, authorities confirmed.

Police found a man who had been wounded. Medical personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene. 

Officers searched a nearby woods where they located another person. That person appeared to have a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. 

Police told FOX 5's Annie Mapp the shooting appeared to be a murder-suicide.

What we don't know:

Authorities have not released the identities, ages, or genders of the two deceased individuals pending notification of next of kin.

Police have not disclosed who fired the fatal shots or specified the relationship between the two individuals.

Investigators have not stated what led up to the shooting.
