2 hurt, 1 in critical condition after shooting

Gun violence interrupted what was supposed to be a peaceful Labor Day in Downtown Atlanta. Police say a man is recovering from a gunshot wound at Grady Hospital, a second man was also hit but is stable. The shooter is still on the run.

A shooting on a busy part of Peachtree Street near Underground Atlanta sent two men to Grady Hospital Monday morning.

One woman described running for cover from those shots after she said she was attacked. It happened on Alabama Street earlier this morning.

"There was a shooting, and literally I ran in, and it was a whole mess," said the woman, who identified herself as Kat and declined to give her last name. "[The attacker] started grabbing me, choking me, took my phone."

Kat said she believes that the person who assaulted her may be the same person who shot the two men, but police have not confirmed that.

Both gunshot victims were transported to a local hospital.

FOX 5’s camera captured detectives gathering evidence at the scene well into the morning on Labor Day.

So far there have been no arrests, and the search for the shooter continues.
