Man killed at Lakewood Heights gas station identified by family

Police in Atlanta are investigating a deadly shooting at a gas station in the 1600 block of Lakewood Avenue SE near McDonough Boulevard SE in the Lakewood Heights neighborhood.

Atlanta police say officers found a man, later identified by family members as George Zachary Andrews, at the scene suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died.

FOX 5 Atlanta was able to access several videos related to the shooting. It appears that the incident began with a tussle over a backpack.

The surveillance footage from outside and inside the gas station starts to paint a better picture. It shows what looks like two men tussling over a black backpack and shows several gunshots being fired.

Both men appear to be unharmed. The driver of the black car pulls up, then is seen getting out of the car, loading and cocking a gun, walking towards the store.

A second video shows one of the men involved running into the store while the man outside walks up pointing a gun. A third man inside runs out of the store to his car.

Back outside, the third man can be seen going to a blue car and pulling out a semi-automatic weapon.

Once again, inside the three men are fighting over the backpack, and the men make a final plea for the man in green to give it up.

It appears the fatal shots were fired outside after this incident.

Police have not released the motive behind the shooting, but witnesses tell FOX 5, they it was related to a drug deal gone wrong.

The shooting is under investigation.

It is not known if anyone has been arrested.
