2 teens killed in South Fulton shooting
South Fulton Police want to determine why two teens were shot in a normally quiet neighborhood off of Cascade Palmetto Highway. One is dead, the other is in critical condition.
SOUTH FULTON, Ga. - Police are investigating a shooting in a South Fulton neighborhood that left one person dead and another in critical condition in a hospital.
The shooting happened around 3:45 a.m. Tuesday at a home near Elkmont Ridge and Apache Street in the Legacy at Cascading Creek neighborhood. That's close to Cascade Palmetto Highway.
The South Fulton Police Department told FOX 5 that officers arriving at the scene found a deceased male lying in the driveway next to a vehicle on the 100 block of Elkmont Ridge. The male had a gunshot wound to his stomach and was not breathing.
While the investigation was underway, officials say they learned a 16-year-old who had been shot in the neck and leg several yards away from the earlier shooting scene.
Emergency officials found that victim in the living room of a home on the 2700 block of the road. Medics rushed him to the hospital in critical condition.
Authorities say they found multiple ammo shells in the backyard of the home and casings in the vehicle that was parked next to the first victim. A firearm was also found in the vehicle's driver's seat.
Investigators shut down parts of Apache Street while they work at the scene.
Police later announced they had a 16-year-old suspect in custody.
