Police: Killer filmed shooting on Snapchat
HALL COUNTY, Ga. - A horrific murder caught on social media. Hall County Sheriff's Office told FOX 5 News 19-year-old Talon Lowery is charged with murder in the death of 18-year-old Bryan Ramirez.
According to authorities, Ramirez had stepped outside for a quick break from his job at the Texaco gas station on Cleveland Highway Thursday night when Lowery drove up in his truck and pulled out a rifle shooting Ramirez in the back.
"He was at work, he wasn't up to no good," Hall County Sheriff's Deputy Stephen Wilbanks said.
Wilbanks said Lowery filmed the murder on Snapchat then shared it with friends.
"While police was on the scene, a White County investigator contacted us to let us know his daughter had received a Snapchat video of Ramirez's murder," Wilbanks said. "To put up something like this on social media then to distribute it is unusual.
Wilbanks said White County deputies immediately went to Lowery's residence where they say they found the murder weapon used in Ramirez's death.
"We do not think Ramirez and Lowery knew each other but we are still investigating," Wilbanks said.
Former classmates and friends of the recent North Hall High School graduate said they saw the video of their friend's murder.
"It's pretty heartbreaking especially knowing someone and then waking up to find out he's been shot outside of work it's crazy," Kevin Rail said.
"I saw the video," Houston Wills said. "It's awful. Who would take someone's life then record it and send it out?"
Lowery is currently in the Hall County Jail.
