ATLANTA - A man was beaten to death early Wednesday morning in Midtown Atlanta, according to police.
Around 2 a.m. Wednesday, a passerby flagged down Atlanta Police officers who were responding to another call, telling them that a man had been beaten up and was lying in the sidewalk.
When the officers went to investigate, they found the 59-year-old man dead. with blunt force trauma to his head. His body was located in the entrance to the 805 Peachtree condo building.
Other than bloody shoe prints leading from the body, investigators don't have a lot to go on. They hope to use surveillance video from a number of nearby stores to help identify a suspect and determine what led to the killing.
The condo building does have a safety officer, but police say he didn't hear anything suspicious.
The name of the victim hasn't been released, but detectives say he is from the Atlanta area.
