RIVERDALE, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A shooting at a Clayton County gas station left a man dead.
Shots were fired late Wednesday night at the Shell on Highway 85, just north of the Riverdale city limits. A man sitting in his SUV died at the scene. His identity has yet to be released by police.
Detectives tell us they watched store surveillance video which showed the victim getting into an argument with at least one other person. He then could be seen entering his SUV and trying to leave. That's when multiple people jumped out of another vehicle and started shooting. The gunmen then got back in their vehicle and fled the scene.
A woman's car that was parked at the pumps was hit by stray bullets. Luckily she happened to be inside the store when the shooting took place and wasn't hurt.
Investigators didn't say much about the getaway vehicle, release a description of the gunman or tell how many suspects they are looking for. They did say a number of people at the gas station took off when the bullets started to fly. Police are asking them to come forward to help with the investigation.
