A man has died after a shooting outside a DeKalb County nightclub early Friday morning.

It happened just before 4:30 a.m. outside the Lavish Bistro, which is located in the 300 block of Covington Drive.

Investigators said some sort of dispute took place between a customer and a security guard, and the customer said he was going to go get his gun from his white Jeep SUV. While the man was retrieving his weapon, the security guard told police he went to get his own.

Multiple shots were fired and shell casings were all over the sidewalk when police arrived. We are told by DeKalb police it appears the security guard is the only one who fired.

The 26-year-old customer was transported to an area hospital where he died.

Officers said they are still looking through surveillance video and talking to witnesses about what exactly happened here. The security guard and those witnesses are cooperating with police and answering questions.

No one else was injured.
