Police: Man killed in southwest Atlanta pedestrian accident
ATLANTA - A man is dead after police say a car hit him and then drove off Sunday night.
Investigators say it happened in southwest Atlanta near the intersection of University Avenue and Pryor Road at around 6 p.m.
The initial report indicates the man was on University Avenue in a travel lane when he was struck.
A witness told FOX 5 News that the man was standing right off the curb when the driver hit him and kept.
She said she had to swerve her car to keep from hitting the man.
"That's when I followed him and took pictures of the tag. I turned back around and called the police and said there was a man under the bridge dead," she said.
Police say the driver of the vehicle initially left the scene but returned and is cooperating with investigators. At this time no charges have been filed.
