Police: Man killed on sidewalk in Cobb County; possible distracted driver
COBB COUNTY, Ga. - Charges are expected to be filed against the driver who hit and killed a man working on the side of a Cobb County road Wednesday morning.
It happened along Akers Mill Road near Galleria Drive around 8 a.m. Police said Toni Hale, 30, ran up on the curb and struck 50-year-old Joseph Poncer before plowing into two light poles.
Police believe Hale may have been distracted.
Poncer worked for a company that handled the maintenance of the buildings in the area. His co-workers said he was cleaning up the area around the bus stop when he was hit.
Poncer died at the scene.
