Police: Men robbed waiting for ride

Two guys were waiting for their Uber to arrive, thinking they are safe in a crowded parking lot, when a robber walked up demanding everything they have, including their pants.

“He’s apparently not receiving the items quick enough and fires a shot into the ground next to them. Then subsequently later fires a second shot,” said Major Stephen Fore, DeKalb County Police Department.

WATCH: Police describe an unusual robbery

The video shows how close the bullet came to one of the victims, but the robbers’ boldness is what baffles police; most of the time after a robbery, the suspect takes off, but not this guy.

“He walks into the Texaco store as if he’s going to purchase something, it appears the line is too long and gets in a green Chevy Tahoe and leaves the area,” said Major Fore.

He ends up abandoning the Tahoe at a Kroger on Moreland Avenue, when police look inside they find all the items he stole along with the gun.

“Why he would conduct this armed robbery so reckless, careless at a busy gas station parking lot, then leave everything he took. That really doesn't make sense,” said Major Fore.

Police hope someone knows who the man is.

“The video is really quality video. And he’s easily identified. We would really like to get this individual off the street because he’s demonstrated how dangerous he truly is, don’t want anyone getting hurt,” said Major Fore.
