Police say officers were patrolling the area of North Jeff Davis Drive and North Glynn Street when they heard glass breaking near the Shell Food Mart. As officers neared the location, they noticed a Lincoln Continental sitting in front of the store. When they pulled into the parking lot, the car took off, leading officers on a high-speed chase with speeds reportedly reaching over 100 miles per hour.

Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and officers from the Clayton County and Fayetteville police departments joined in the chase, which eventually ended Clayton County. Police located the suspects as they were reportedly throwing lottery tickets into a wood line.

Officials say Gilbert suffered minor injuries from a police K-9 and was taken to a local hospital for treatment under police supervision.

Mitchell is being held at the Fayette County Jail.
