SWAT suspect in custody after stand-off

A suspect is now in custody after a long stand-off in DeKalb County. Police say a man barricaded himself inside a home after firing shots Tuesday morning.

A suspect is now in custody after a long standoff in DeKalb County. Police say a man barricaded himself inside a home on Vista Brook Drive after shooting at construction workers Tuesday morning.

It was around 9:30 a.m. when the shots were fired, according to police.

One person was able to make it out of the area and told officers that the suspected shooter was barricaded inside a home. Police called the SWAT team in.

McLendon Elementary School is in the area. According to school officials, the school was placed on lockdown as a precaution, but students were allowed to be dismissed safely.

A friend of the suspect told FOX 5 the man claimed construction workers in the area scratched his face after some problems he had with them.

"He went back with some other sort of actions. From there, I don't really know what happened, but you guys told me he had a gun on him," Kel Drew said.

No one was injured. The suspect has been charged with four counts of aggravated assault.
