Police release surveillance footage in deadly shooting

Atlanta Police on Friday released new information and surveillance video in the deadly shooting of a 26-year-old Atlanta man.

It happened Tuesday morning in a parking lot on Whitehall Street. Police said Anthony Freeman was shot and killed seconds after being the victim of a robbery.

“We know our victim and his friends were robbed of a substantial amount of money,” Homicide Commander Lt. Charles Hampton said.

Hampton told FOX 5 News, Freeman and his friend were at an Atlanta nightclub then walked back to their parked car when they were approached by a lone gunman.

“Who we believe is the shooter exits the passenger side and he’s going to walk down and approach our victim and his friend,” Hampton said.

Police said Freeman and his friend complied and handed money over to the robber.

“Then the victim got out and confronted the robber,” Hampton said. “Then he was shot.”

Authorities told FOX 5 News the shooter immediately took off. No one else was injured in the shooting.

“We know our victim and his friend were inside Blue Ivory nightclub prior to the incident. We aren’t sure what happened inside the club,” Hampton said.

Police are hoping the newly released surveillance footage will help the public identify the shooter and the person driving the white car.
