Police search for clues in two Vine City murders

Atlanta Police search the neighborhood surrounding Mims Park to search for clues in two 2016 murders in the Vine City area.

"We're not getting a lot of information. We might get more information doing these door to door canvasses," said Captain Ben McGee, who tells FOX 5 the crimes are not related, though they are in the same vicinity.

Police knock on doors to ask neighbors for more information on the two homicides.

On Feb. 5, 55-year-old Mamadou Matesso, a taxi driver, was found shot dead in his car on Spencer Street.On Jan. 13, 19-year-old Deonta Evans was riding his bike home after buying his mother Powerball tickets when he was shot and killed.

 

 

"It's more than senseless. It's ridiculous we have crimes of that nature happen around our neighborhood," one neighbor said.
