Police: 'slider' crimes increase as temperatures decrease
ATLANTA - As the temperatures continue to drop, the Atlanta Police Department is warning about a particular crime.
Officers said slider crimes tend to happen more during the colder months because people leave their vehicles running to stay warm.
The thieves take advantage of people who have their attention focused elsewhere "slide" into the unlocked car and take off.
Atlanta Police urge people to take their keys with them or use a remote start that can keep your car locked if you do need to warm it up.
