Dallas police are looking for the man they say assumed the identity of a dead man.

Last year 57-year-old Ronald Shumway’s remains were found in his yard on Winnetka Avenue. He sold the home in June, but that was two months after he was reported missing.

Police now believe 34-year-old Christopher Brian Colbert assumed Shumway’s identity. They haven’t elaborated on the connection between the two, but said Colbert committed several deceptive acts.

Colbert is wanted for tampering with governmental records and money laundering.

Shumway’s cause of death is still undetermined. Originally police said the home’s new owner found his remains under a cement block while renovating.

There was evidence of a homicide, police said at the time.
