ATLANTA - The Georgia State Patrol has arrested a woman who led them on a chase with two small children in her car.
Officials say at 1:15 early Sunday morning, a patrol car saw a 2007 Nissan Sentra speeding southbound on Interstate 85.
The patrol car tried to initiate a traffic stop, but police say the car failed to stop and tried to escape onto exit 51.
The trooper eventually performed a PIT maneuver, causing the Sentra to rotate and hit a tree.
Medics transported the driver, 29-year-old Atlanta resident Jameria Alexander, to Piedmont Newnan.
The two children in the car, one 7-year-old and one 4-year-old, were not injured, but police say they were both improperly restrained.
Alexander has now been charged with speeding, failure to maintain lane, driving with a suspended license, having no proof of insurance, driving a vehicle that was not registered, driving on the wrong side of the road, running a red light, reckless driving, fleeing police and two counts of child-restraint violations.Both children were improperly restrained.
