Atlanta police say a woman standing at a MARTA bus stop was fatally hit by a car Thursday.

Authorities say the car was traveling southbound on Pryor Road. As the vehicle approached a stop sign, witnesses told police that the car swerved to the left and up onto the sidewalk, striking the 50-year-old victim.

Police say the car carried the victim for a short while before her body fell to the ground. The vehicle reportedly continued into a tree, then onto a porch.

The driver has been identified as a 20-year-old woman. She was taken to a local hospital.

Police say the victim, Annie Cole, was pronounced dead at the scene. The next of kin has not been notified on this incident.

In May, a pregnant woman waiting at a bus stop in the same area was hit and killed by a pick-up truck.

Charges are anticipated in this case as the investigation continues.
