Sherry Edwards, who lives nearby, described the incident as part of a troubling pattern. "It’s disconcerting. The shootings in the country are abominable and tragic," she said.
Fred Meggitt, another local resident, said the proximity of the crime was especially alarming. "It’s near my family. I’ve got eight family members here, along with ten grandchildren. And we live just down the street," Meggitt said.
The incident has prompted some residents to reevaluate their sense of security in the area. "We are in metro Atlanta, and we have to be accountable for our decisions on where we live. So, you know, I kind of got to expect that," Meggitt said. "But it's getting to the point where, you know, after 11 p.m., maybe you don’t want to be out."
Edwards echoed similar concerns about personal safety. "I think the incursion of random shootings that I see in the news brings to mind that no matter where I am, I have to be paying attention. And it could happen anywhere," she said.
