GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - Parents of student at a Gwinnett County middle school received a message from the principal Monday afternoon about a possible school threat.
The voice mail was in response to a social media post involving a McConnell Middle School student and a weapon.
Officials say they have identified the student responsible for the post and will be meeting with the student and their parents.
"Please know that we take this kind of threat very seriously and will be taking appropriate disciplinary action," the voicemail said. "The student could face criminal charges as well."
While this particular situation has been handled, Principal Clent Chatham is asking parents to use the incident to teacher their children that information shared on social media can get them in trouble.
