Murder, attempted suicide under investigation in Powder Springs
POWDER SPRINGS, Ga. - Cobb County police are helping investigate a murder and attempted suicide reported in Powder Springs.
Officers said they responded to a home on Forest Hill Road just after noon on Sunday where they found a woman dead, and a man who had been shot in the mouth. Police believe the man killed the woman before turning the gun on himself.
While police are not identifying the victim or suspect, neighbors told FOX 5 they were a couple who had several children.
"Thursday she was out here and on her phone and, you know, you wave because everybody's so busy," Randa Copeland said. "But just to pull up today and see this, this is just devastating. Really devastating."
The man was rushed to Kennesaw Hospital in "critical condition." At last check, police said he wasn't expected to survive.

"I'm just at a loss for words right now," Copeland told FOX 5. "I'm thinking about the kids. She was really sweet, and I would say a good mother in a sense, because I always saw her with her kids playing and getting for school, things like that. She was a really sweet person."
Fellow neighbor Hailee Moss said she just saw the kids playing in the yard on Saturday.
"We were coming home from Publix. They were in the yard catching lightning bugs, enjoying their innocence. And then today, their lives are changed forever." she explained. "Our hearts go out to the family, the children that are left behind. I hope that they have a family to care for them. I know that I've seen the mother with the children. I know she was a great mom and didn't deserve what happened to her."
Investigators have not given a possible motive yet.
Neither person involved has been named.
