Preview: FOX's 'The Passion' live event Sunday

ATLANTA - FOX 5 Atlanta got a preview of FOX’s “The Passion” which will air live on Sunday night.

FOX’s Nishelle Turner spoke with FOX 5’s Cynné Simpson about the upcoming live musical. “The Passion” tells the story of Christ’s last hours on earth through contemporary music sung by the cast. The setting is in modern-day New Orleans and takes place around some of the Big Easy’s most iconic locations.

The star-studded cast includes include JenCarlos Canela as Jesus, Chris Daughtry as Judas, and Trisha Yearwood as Mary. Some of those stars, including American Idol contestant Chris Daughtry spoke to Good Day Atlanta about the experience.

Atlanta resident and New Orleans native Tyler Perry will narrate the event. Perry spoke about his role in the live production on Good Day Atlanta Friday.

Thousands of people are set to line the streets of the city from the Mercedes Benz Superdome, all the way to Woldenberg Park, witnessing a giant illuminated cross that will make its way to the live stage. 

The two-hour event starts at 8 p.m. this Sunday on FOX 5 Atlanta.
