DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - The DeKalb County superintendent is taking action after what he calls “severe and serious allegations.”
The principal at Lakeside High School, Jason Clyne was removed while the school district investigates a flyer that is currently circulating that accuses Clyne of making inappropriate racially charged comments during a meeting.
“There were some things on social media, there were some things that were posted,” said DeKalb County Superintendent, Dr. R. Stephen Green. “We investigated; we saw at least enough to remove the principal from the building during these investigations to verify more of the facts.”
Dr. Green was made aware of the posting Monday and says he removed Clyne from the school Tuesday. Parents received a letter from the superintendent Wednesday with some information about the flyer and the removal of the principal.
"They are supposed to be role models for the kids and to make slurs like that it is just unacceptable,” said Scott Shelton whose daughter attends Lakeside High School.
“If this is true he needs to lose his job, there is no place for that,” said Nicole Broyard whose son attends the school.
A member of the school council posted on a neighborhood-networking site that there would be a meeting Friday, Jan. 29th and instead of rumors and speculation, he invited parents to attend and get what facts are available.
"I would hope that he did not make them to begin with,” said parent, Mark Morgan. “To be accused of making the comments, I think we need to figure out what happened.”
“I am obviously more concerned about how the man handles his job, but certainly that is a part of it,” said another parent, David Dollar.
Dr. Green said one of the assistant principals will act as interim until Monday, when a replacement will be introduced as principal for the rest of the school year.
