Woman charged in fatal shooting at SW Atlanta McDonald's denied bond
ATLANTA - A woman, identified as 30-year-old Tamanika Woods, was shot to death near a McDonald's in southwest Atlanta on Wednesday afternoon.
Atlanta police say it happened around 3 p.m. at 1166 Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard SW when an argument between two woman ended in gunfire.
"The motive appears to be an escalating dispute between customers," said Atlanta Police Lt. Germain Dearlove.
Investigators did not say if the shooting happened inside or outside the restaurant, but revealed the shooter was held by bystanders until officers arrived.
The woman was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital, where she died.
"My heart was definitely broken. I'm so saddened by this," a friend of the woman, who did not want her name used, told FOX 5.
The woman says she is struggling to understand why someone would end up shooting her friend.
"I never would’ve seen this happening," she said.
Her friend says she will always remember her as a loving, family-oriented woman.
"She’s a very humble, sweet-spirited young lady," she said.
"Every time I saw her, it was nothing but good times and good memories," she added. "She’s loved by a lot of people and I hate this situation happened to her."
"She will truly be missed," she said.
The suspect was identified on Thursday as 19-year-old T'Niya Evans. She has been charged with murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and theft by receiving stolen property. She was booked into Fulton County Jail and made her first court appearance on Friday. She was denied bond, according to the court's website.
