Residents concerned over new Atlanta Community Food Bank facility
EAST POINT, Ga. - East Point residents are uneasy over a proposed facility which would help the Atlanta Community Food Bank feed nearly a million people a year.
The food bank provides food to more than 800,000 people. A number That's growing and is now requiring the non-profit to build a new facility, but people living in that neighborhood around the proposed site are concerned about what it will mean for them.
The site sits on 64 acres along Red Wine Road behind Camp Creek Marketplace. The food bank wants to rezone land and develop on about 20 acres of the land.
Although the food bank would not feed the hungry at the site, some residents fear what could come with the facility including traffic, flooding from construction, or more development. Residents believe it would hurt property values.
