'Wanted man' arrested in Habersham County

The Habersham County Sheriff's Office says a "wanted man" has been captured after a two-hour search just west of Clarkesville.

A message posted to the sheriff's office Facebook page just after 12:30 on Friday asked residents to lock their doors and vehicles while deputies performed an active search for the man.

The man had been seen walking in the area of Highway 17 near Victory Baptist Church.

An update to that post at 2:45 p.m. states that the man was taken into custody.

"We appreciate the help of the Georgia Department of Corrections K9 team, who took him into custody," Sheriff Joey Terrell said. "We also appreciate the help of Georgia State Patrol Aviation and other agencies involved with our personnel in this search and capture."

The name and charges against the man have not been released.
