Broken glass, holes after Atlanta apartment shooting

Residents of a southwest Atlanta apartment were left with piles of shattered glass and pox marks on their buildings. Those who were inside were jarred awake by the late-night shooting.

Bullet holes riddled several units at an apartment complex after a late-night shooting in southwest Atlanta. Police are still searching for whoever is responsible.

"It was like gunshots. ‘Da da da da da,’ is what it sounded like," said resident Robert Wiley.

The incident reportedly took place off of Sells Avenue around 10:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Wiley told FOX 5 he felt grateful to be alive.

"I was asleep on the couch, then I started hearing gunshots and my window started shattering. Everything, the glass, started falling," Wiley said. "I hit the floor in order not to get hit."

The shooting left the ground outside the apartment building littered with broken glass.

Wiley brought FOX 5 inside his unit. Bullet holes decorated the walls.

He said he recently lost his mom, who stayed with him while he took care of her. He said had she still been there with him, she surely would have been killed.

"Right there, my mom would have been there," Wiley said, pointing to the spot where her bed used to be. "I just thank God it didn't turn out like that."

Authorities urge anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward to assist in their investigation.
