Family mourns death of Clayton County father

Officials say a Clayton County man was killed by his wife of six years inside their home. The victim's mother said that he was a shining light that brightened every room.

Investigators said a Clayton County man was gunned down by his wife of six years in their home overnight. Police call the shooting, which took place shortly after midnight on Thursday on unincorporated Jonesboro's River Road, domestic-related.

According to officials, 35-year-old Rhonda Taylor told dispatchers she had been in the apartment arguing with her husband when she accidentally shot him. When officers got to the scene, police said officers found 35-year-old Bryan Tucker dead in the master bedroom.

Detectives interviewing Rhonda Tucker said she told them that the incident started with an argument that escalated to a fight. She then picked up a handgun, followed her husband into the bedroom, and shot him until he stopped moving.

"She advised that she and her husband had been involved in a domestic argument that was ongoing. At some point, it went into the bedroom and she accidentally shot her husband in the back of the head," said Captain Gary Flinn, Clayton County Police Department.

Officers have charged the suspect with malice murder, aggravated assault, and possessing a weapon during the commission of a crime.

Bryan was the oldest of his mother's seven children.

"We are so shocked. This was so unexpected. Just keep us in prayer. It hurts. It really hurts," said Berlinda Tucker, the victim's mother.

His mother said her son was a loving father to his two children. Rhonda is not their mother. She did not speak about the couple's relationship, but only how much she will miss her first-born son.

"He was the shining light in the family. Whenever he entered the room he was the light. He always wanted to give. We are going to miss him a lot. We will miss him a lot," his mother said.
