Woman mysteriously disappears after ex's death

Samantha Tolbert has been missing for nearly a month, Carroll County Sheriff's deputies say, ever since her ex-husband killed shot and himself.

The Carroll County Sheriff's Office is asking the public for help finding a missing 46-year-old woman.

"We're not sure about anything at this moment. That's why we're so desperate to find any information," said Carroll County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Ashley Hulsey.

Officials say Samantha Tolbert's family has not heard from her and is very concerned for her safety.

The Carroll County Sheriff's Office says there was a history of domestic violence between Tolbert and her ex-husband, Jerimmie. However, the last report was filed in November 2022. On March 7, deputies responded to an address on Tyus Carrollton Road in reference to a suicide. Jerimmie was located with a fatal self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the sheriff's office.

Samantha Tolbert reported missing

Tolbert is described as 5-feet-4 inches tall with a weight of 165 pounds. She has naturally red hair but dyes it blond.

"I mean, when somebody goes completely missing after they have contact with their family and there's just not a lot of activity, I mean you fear the worst, but hope for the best," said Hulsey.

Investigators do not believe the missing woman is traveling in a car or has a phone.

"We are not finding any record that her phone has been disconnected. We don't believe there's been any bank activity now in almost a month, so obviously, that's really concerning," said Hulsey.

It is not known what she was wearing when she went missing.

Tips in Carroll County woman's disappearance

"Right now, we just need any and all tips, no matter how insignificant it is. If you've spoken with Samantha, if she told you she may be leaving to go somewhere, if you know people she may hang out with. We know that she frequents between Carroll County and Randolph County, Alabama," said Hulsey.

"Her daughter and I want the public's help in bringing Samantha home. We appreciate all the calls and helpful leads. We continue to ask no matter how small you may think a tip is, it could bring us one step closer to finding Samantha. We ask that you keep us in your prayers as the days seem to get longer. We have faith in Carroll County Sheriff's department and are very thankful to have Detective Cardell and her team working the case.
