School year calendar discussed
ATLANTA - Georgia lawmakers and leaders of the Georgia Tourism and Commerce Industry gathered Tuesday to discuss the school calendar year.
The board heard from a number of education officials on when the school year should start and end.
Many educators believe the issue should remain in the hands of local school board leaders and not with state lawmakers.
A representative with the parent-teacher association spoke on what she believes is the more important issue when it comes to making sure students succeed.
Tuesday's meeting was not about making any decisions but listening to feedback and discussing the school calendar year.
