Armed person in custody after massive search in Sandy Springs
ATLANTA - A massive two-hour police manhunt in Sandy Springs ended with the arrest of an armed man wanted in connection with a domestic dispute.
According to the Sandy Springs Police Department, officers arrived at a home along Dumaine Trace around 2 p.m. and spotted the armed man outside. Instead of following officers’ commands to drop his weapon, police say he took off.

The man discarded some of his clothing as he attempted to flee.
K-9s and extra patrol officers were brought in to search the area of Spalding Drive and Trowbridge Road. The search prompted a "shelter in place" order for nearby residents.
The man was captured in the woods. Authorities say the man dropped the gun at some point, which officers are scouring the woods for.
Investigators say they are looking into whether the man had pointed a gun at a child during the dispute.
The name of the man has not been released. Charges are pending.
