What happened to Selena Garcia?

Police in Gwinnett County are renewing calls for the public’s help in solving the disappearance of Selena Garcia. The 25-year-old vanished after telling loved ones she was going out with friends.

Police in Gwinnett County are pleading for the public’s help in finding missing 25-year-old Selena Garcia.

August marks 10 months since Garcia was last seen by her Lilburn family.

Her sister, Zaira, has been praying for months she will be found safe.

"If she can hear me, I just want her to know that we are looking for her and to stay strong," said Zaira told FOX 5’s Deidra Dukes back in February.

Garcia immediately grew concerned, contacting the police on Oct. 12, after she was unable to reach her little sister, Selena.

The 25-year-old went missing the weekend of Oct. 8 after telling her sister she was going out with friends in Norcross.

Her family tells investigators she had bonded out of jail just days before.

Investigators say there was no sign of her at the Dickens Terrace home where she was reportedly staying.

Garcia is known to frequent the areas of Lilburn, Norcross, and Buford.

"Detectives want to make sure the public is aware that we have not forgotten about this case," said Gwinnett Police Cpl. Juan Madiedo. "We want to make sure that if anybody has information to please come forward, they can call 911 or Crime Stoppers directly."

Cpl. Madiedo told FOX 5 on Thursday afternoon there have been possible leads, including a possible sighting of Selena around Christmas at a gas station, but nothing firm.

"Some leads have come here and there, but nothing confirmed," he said. "She does have a distinct tattoo on her right hand."

That tattoo is the number "503" written across her right-hand fingers. On her wrist is the word "Maria." She also has a dark green marijuana plant on top of her hand.

Police said the public is their best bet in finding her and getting answers for her weary family.

"You might think it’s something small, just call us or call 911 or call Atlanta Crime Stoppers and provide that tip," Madiedo said.

Garcia is described by police as being 5-feet-6-inches tall, weighing 160 pounds, with brown eyes, and straight brown hair.

A $2,000 reward is being offered for information leading to her safe return.

Anyone with information is asked to call GCPD detectives at 770-513-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
