Semi-truck driver dies after crash sparks house fire

The driver of a tractor-trailer was killed in a crash that sparked a house fire early Tuesday morning.  

The wreck happened near the intersection of Industrial Park Road and Highway 411 around 6:30 a.m. According to Bartow County EMS, a tractor-trailer struck a broken down vehicle. The impact caused the semi to veer off the road and hit power lines. Then, the tractor-trailer caught fire. 

The truck was within a few feet from a home which also caught fire. A man was sleeping inside the home at the time of the wreck, but he was able to make it out safely. 

The driver of the semi-truck was taken to Kennestone Hospital with trauma injuries. The driver has since passed away. 

The fiery crash caused a portion of Highway 411 to shut down. The road has since reopened.
